Kingsdale Foundation School places music at the heart of school life. It is home to the Mary Graham School of Music, a purpose-built, industry-standard facility in Southeast London. Music at Kingsdale is inclusive, ambitious and vibrant, with all students studying music upon entry. The number of students taking music exams is consistently the largest in England and every year students are offered places at conservatoires such as the Royal Academy, Royal College and Guildhall and prestigious university courses such as Tonmeister and or Russel Group Universities. Over 30 music ensembles rehearse weekly, ranging from orchestra, and choir to Steel Pan and Irish music groups. Students benefit from a unique scholarship programme offering free instrumental tuition regardless of background, alongside extensive performance opportunities.

Kingsdale’s music department has a rich history of tours, with trips to Canada, Russia, Namibia and Brazil notable examples. Most recently the school Jazz Bands competed in the National Jazz Festival in the USA, receiving commendations for individual performances and finishing 3rd in a competition encompassing schools from across the United States.
