Debussy(s) in jazz
The meeting between Franck Tortiller and Christophe Collette is above all a story of musical complicity. Nurtured by numerous concerts with the Debussy Quartet and three albums recorded together, this complicity now finds a new setting. Two careers, two sensibilities, two worlds... and the same desire: to unite their sounds and languages to invent a space of freedom where jazz dialogues with classical music.
In this duo, boundaries are blurred. Bach, Ravel, Fauré and Kurt Weill are reinvented
when jazz sheds new light on classical music. Conversely, Grappelli, Legrand and Franck Tortiller's own compositions take on an intimate and poetic dimension when the classical violin takes hold of them with finesse.
This two-voice conversation, by turns tender, virtuosic and daring, tells
above all a human story: that of two artists who have known each other for a long time and who have finally found the ideal terrain to share their common passion. A journey where improvisation and writing, memory and invention, tradition and freedom intersect.
