Info

This roundtable brings together Chinese diaspora from diverse backgrounds to reflect on how new generations of migration are reshaping Belgium’s social, cultural, and professional landscapes. Moving beyond simplified or stereotypical representations, the event highlights varied migration pathways, social positions, and lived experiences that coexist under the broad label of “Chinese.” Through personal narratives and professional reflections, participants will share how they navigate belonging, mobility, work, family, creativity, and public life in Belgium. Together, we aim to develop a more grounded and nuanced understanding of the evolving realities of Chinese migration — one that recognizes diversity across sectors, generations, and everyday settings. The afternoon will unfold in two parts Art Performance The event will start with traditional Chinese folk music, followed by a roundtable discussion accompanied by live painting. The artwork will develop throughout the event, reflecting the themes explored in the conversation.
