Info

Who hasn't blown through a bottle neck to produce that characteristic sound, reminiscent of a pan flute? A crate of Belgian beer contains 24 small bottles that can be tuned (with water). That's more than enough for wild luthier Max Vandervorst to play delightful melodies, which are enriched with original accompaniments thanks to the use of a looper pedal. Through these sensitive and enveloping sounds, the audience is invited to (re)discover a few melodies that will make them want to sing along. But then bottle caps and bottle openers also start to sing, a recyclable cup turns into a trombone, and the beer crate becomes a drum kit. And, as if by magic, a musical chair, a Mozartian orchestra and even a soprano vacuum cleaner appear... The title ‘Rhapsodie belgicaine’ is a nod to the diversity of Belgian beer production, which, despite quite a few points of contention, seems to be an indisputable common ground between Flanders and Wallonia, not to mention Brussels Kriek.
